Family Planning Services
A full range of contraceptive methods, advice on safer sex, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing (including patients not registered at Lambgates), referral for termination is available during normal consultations for our patients.

Maternity Care Antenatal
Wednesdays 9.00am - 12.00pm - New patients 1.00pm - 3.00pm.
The community midwife cares for our expectant mothers, liaising closely with the doctors. Home delivery / short-stay hospital arrangements can be discussed with the midwife. (Please see information leaflet to describe the roles of members of the team).

Immunisation clinic - Tuesday 1.30pm 2.15pm
Babies can be weighed at Glossop Primary Care Centre, Glossop by the Health Visitors contactable on 01457 850550. They are qualified nurses who have undergone further specialist training in child and community health. They are GP attached, with an open referral system and specialise in health advice and health promotion work with families, the elderly and handicapped.
Smear Clinic
By appointment with the practice nurses.
Cervical smears are recommended every 3 years for ages 25-49 and every 5 years for ages 50-65. The test is quick and painless and can pick up very early changes in the cervix which are easily treated and which could otherwise eventually become cancerous. We operate a recall system and invite patients to make an appointment when their smear is due.
Younger Person Services/Sexual Health
We provide a confidential service to all young persons, males and females, (including patients not registered with Lambgates) to advise on diet, exercise, lifestyle, smoking and sexual health.

Tetanus Immunisation
If you have had 5 doses of tetanus in total you are now considered to be immune. If you are unsure of your tetanus status please contact surgery.
Alcohol Education
Wednesday 1pm - 5pm and Friday 9am - 1pm

Counselling
We offer a counselling service for patients suffering from depression or anxiety by appointment.
Minor Surgery
By appointment Monday PM and Thursday AM.
Certain minor surgical procedures and joint injections are undertaken at surgery by appointment. The doctor will discuss this if applicable. We can also offer appointments to patients not registered with the practice.
NHS Health Check
NHS health checks are being offered to people aged between 40 and 74 every five years. The check is to assess your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes. If there are any warning signs, then together we can do something about it.
The check should take about 20-30 minutes and is based on straightforward questions and measurements such as age, sex, family history, height, weight and blood pressure. There will also be a simple blood test to measure your cholesterol level.
Following the check you will receive FREE personalised advice about what you can do to stay healthy.
