Chaperones

BACK TO MAIN INDEX

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required.  The chaperone may be a family member or friend.  On occasions you may prefer a formal chaperone to be present, i.e. a medical professional.

We will always respect your privacy, dignity and your religious and cultural beliefs particularly when intimate examinations are advisable - these will only be carried out with your express agreement and you will be offered a chaperone to attend the examination.

You may also request a chaperone when making the appointment or on arrival at the surgery (please let the receptionist know) or at any time during the consultation.

Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy.
